Matthew 22 really challenges me. I could go on a rant about how selfish our world has become. It often feels like everyone wants to be first, and many people act as if everything revolves around them.
But then I have to remember that Jesus didn’t tell us to love only the people who are easy to love. He told us to love our neighbors.
I’ve known a few pastors who have been difficult to love. At times, it has seemed like they only notice people with influence, popularity, or deep pockets. That’s hurtful, and those situations can make loving others especially difficult.
I have to remind myself that judging them isn’t my job. God sees every heart, and one day we will all stand before Him. My responsibility is to keep loving people the best I can, even when it’s hard. I won’t pretend that’s easy—sometimes it’s really difficult—but that’s exactly why we need God’s help to love the way He calls us to.
